The coalescer and separator elements are specifically designed for oil-water separation systems, suitable for treating oil-water mixtures, suspensions, and emulsions.
The operating sequence within the system consists of five stages: solid-liquid separation → demulsification → coalescence → separation → adsorption. A higher ratio of coalescing elements to separating elements improves coalescence efficiency and accelerates the separation rate.
Coalescer & Separator – Principle of Operation
The coalescer & separator is engineered for liquid-liquid separation and incorporates two primary elements: a coalescing element and a separating element.
Coalescing Stage
Oil enters the coalescing element, where solid particulates are retained and micron-sized water droplets are coalesced into larger globules. Most enlarged globules settle by gravity into the collection sump and are discharged via the drain valve.
Separation Stage
The oil then passes through the separating element. With oleophilic and hydrophobic media, the element allows oil to pass freely while repelling residual water, which collects in the sedimentation tank and is drained. Clean, water-free oil exits the outlet.
Differential Pressure Monitoring
As contaminants accumulate on the filter elements, differential pressure rises. When it reaches 0.15 MPa, the coalescing element is clogged and requires replacement.
